The cast of Sky series Brassic returned to Bacup earlier this week, as filming for series five continued.

Film crews descended on 1832 Barista in St James Street on Monday (January 30) where filming took place both inside and outside the shop.

The team even temporarily changed the shop front signage to read ‘Le Patisserie Graham’.

Wendy Middleton, who owns the coffee shop with husband Steve, said: “They needed a bistro-style place to film at.

“Crew members took some things down and rearranged some of the shop from the inside.

“They used our cake domes and filled them with their own cakes and props.

“They also changed the shop sign outside.”

Wendy said the coffee shop is a ‘hot spot’ for the team, who often buy hot drinks and food from the business.

She said: “They always enjoy our cakes and hot drinks every time they come into town, the coffee shop seems to be a hotspot for them.

“They often come to us with a hefty order list for around 30 people.”

According to Wendy, the Brassic team are always kind and polite.

She said: “There were only a couple of cast members but they were all really lovely. They all introduced themselves and were very polite.

“They were such a good bunch of people, really bright and bubbly and professional.

“The cast and crew always have time to speak to and take pictures with fans.”

Wendy says Brassic has brought some life to Bacup and says the public interest in film crews is great for the town.

She said: “People always like to stop and watch what’s being filmed which is always great for our business.

“No much happens in Bacup but anything television related always brings a crowd.

“When they are filming here there is a buzz about the town and people come from surrounding areas to see them in action.

“It’s great for the town – we don’t get a lot of footfall and we need all the interest we can get.

“We can’t wait to see the coffee shop on the show.”

Camera crews and cast members were also spotted slightly further afield near Red Hall in Bury.
