CREWS spent more than an hour fighting a fire  which spread to two garden sheds, fence panels and garden furniture in the early hours of the morning.

Firefighters were called at 3.35am and spent hours battling the blaze in Richmond Terrace, Clitheroe.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, and scene lighting. Crews remained in attendance for one and a half hours.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “At 3.35am on April 27, two fire engines from Clitheroe attended an outbuilding fire on Richmond Terrace, Clitheroe.

“The incident involved two garden sheds and also affected fence panels and garden furniture.

“Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, and scene lighting.

“Crews remained in attendance for one and a half hours.”

This comes the day after the fire service and police announced they are working together to tackle an increase of arson incidents in the area.

Fire crews said they had been called to several deliberate fires. No indication was given as to whether the fire this morning was deliberate or accidental.
