Laurence Bassini hopes work on a new East Stand could begin within the next 12 months if the south-west corner is completed and says he is looking into building a hotel at Vicarage Road.

It is Bassini’s aim to start work on the south-west corner by October and then he hopes to build a medical centre inside the new East Stand, with former Watford FC Limited director Panos Thomas “heading up” the project.

“We are hoping within 12 months – although it will depend on when the south west corner is done – to start building the East Stand,” Bassini revealed, “we will do that as soon as we can.”

Bassini has also contacted companies about the possibility of a hotel being built in the corner of Watford’s stadium.

He said: “We are looking at building a hotel at the ground and I think that could become important. Sir Philip Green will be helping me with that.

“We might be able to incorporate it into one of the corners of the stadium, like they do at Chelsea.”
