Sebastien Edgar told of his pride after he was selected to represent Team GB this summer in the handball squad for London 2012.

The Watford star forms part of a 14-man squad who will compete in the Copper Box in the Olympic Park, Stratford.

The 21-year-old took up the sport in 2002 and his hard work and dedication has seen him progress to Olympic level.

He has received support from BrightHouse, who in partnership with the charity SportsAid, provided a financial award to help him with training and travelling expenses.

Speaking on his selection, Edgar enthused: “I am immensely proud to be representing GB at the 2012 Olympics. I’ve trained hard for many years and being selected is recognition of all the effort and sacrifice I’ve put into my sport.

“I’m very grateful to SportsAid and BrightHouse for the support they’ve provided me with.”

BrightHouse CEO Leo McKee added: “We are delighted Seb has been selected. It is hugely gratifying to see the young athletes we support do well. We wish Seb much luck at the Games.”

The handball competition runs throughout the duration of the Games, with the British women’s team taking to the court first on Saturday, July 28.

Edgar and the men’s squad begin their campaign the following day when they take on France and will hope to progress from a group which also features Iceland, Argentina, Sweden and Tunisia.

The women’s medals will be decided on Saturday, August 11, with the men’s competition concluding a day later.
