BLACKBURN Hawks skipper Ollie Lomax is hopeful his improving side can spring a surprise when they make the Friday night trip to NIHL Moralee Conference leaders Sheffield Steeldogs (7.30pm).

Hawks have climbed to fifth in the table on the back for four straight wins and a victory tonight would see them draw level on points with fourth placed Solway Sharks.

But it will be no easy task for Lomax's men given Steeldogs have lost just twice this term.

"There's no reason why we can't go there and win," said the Hawks captain.

"The home game against them went to overtime when we lost so we have shown we can compete with them.

"None of the games we have lost against the top three sides have been routs and we have beaten Hull Pirates who are second at the moment.

"There will be a big crowd there and while it is strange playing a Friday night game we are all off work at the moment so it not does impact us too much.

"We seem to have turned a corner and we are all looking forward to it."

Hawks are also in action tomorrow (5.30pm) when they make the trip to struggling Billingham Stars.
