BLACKBNURN Hawks defenceman Olly Lomax has signed with the club for another year as new coach Matt Darlow's squad begins to take shape.

The Hawks have also signed defenceman Bobby Streetly two years since he left the Hawks to join Wightlink Raiders.

Lomax has come through the ranks at the club and admits he is relishing the new campaign.

He said: "I’m really looking forward to this season as I feel I haven’t really been on my game since breaking my wrist last November. When I came back into the line-up I really wasn’t 100 per cent but that’s me, I’ll always answer the call.

"I’ve been able to rest the wrist so far this summer and it’s starting to get back to where it should be.

"I’m really looking forward to the hockey season ahead – I’m 28 now and I’ve been around Blackburn hockey for 20 years and I could’ve called time on my career and gone out on the back of two double winning seasons, but I believe I still have a lot to offer the club both on and off the ice.

"We are going to have a younger looking squad this year but that’s exciting for me, I need to have a veteran presence in the room and help these lads.

"Playing for Blackburn Hawks is an honour and I’ll make sure everyone realises that.

"The trophies that we have won over the last few seasons are obviously the highlight of my Hawks career, but for me the over riding factor that keeps bringing me back for another year is pulling that Hawks number 21 jersey on, representing my town and playing in front of a great crowd."

Streetly, 22, is also looking forward to pulling on a Hawks jersey when the season gets underway.

He said: “I’m very excited to be back at Blackburn. I’m a completely different player to when I left two or three years ago and I’m excited to show where I’m at now with my game.

"For anyone who doesn’t know me I’m a defensive d-man who takes care of my own end of the rink first.

"I’m hoping to contribute more offensively this time round while not fading away from my natural game.

"Everyone already has Blackburn down as not repeating the success they have had over the last few years but hearing a few names Matt has mentioned, I’m feeling very confident Blackburn will be there or there about come the end of March.”
