BLACKBURN Hawks ended the season in style as they secured the NIHL Moralee Conference play-off title with a comfortable 7-3 win over Solihull Barons in Sheffield on Sunday night.
The Hawks, who had already claimed the league title but lost out in the cup final to Billingham Stars last week, bounced back in style with two impressive performances in the play-offs.
Sunday’s final win was underpinned by a strong second period as Hawks converted a 2-1 first period lead into a 5-2 advantage.
That allowed Blackburn to manage the game in the third period as they completed a 7-3 success.
Saturday’s semi-final pitted Hawks against Solway Sharks and the Blackburn side were too strong for their opponents securing a 5-2 victory to book their place in the final.
Blackburn Eagles were also in play-off action in Sheffield but bowed out at the semi-final stage with a 9-5 defeat to Deeside Dragons who went on to defeat Widnes Wild in the final.
