IT IS nice to be top of the league for Christmas.

We are a point clear and have two games in hand so we would have taken that when the season started.

We’ve got another big game on Sunday against Solihull and hopefully we can keep our place at the top.

MORE TOP STORIES:

It took a late goal from us to stay there though after a 4-4 draw with Whitley Warriors on Sunday night.

It was a really good game to be involved in and a number of people watching said it was the best game they had seen in the league for a number of years.

The atmosphere was electric and I really enjoyed playing in it. I think we deserved at least a draw and we could perhaps have won it.

Having said that though they went 4-3 up with five minutes to go so it took great character for us to come back and level the game.

Whitley are a really good side this year and I think we will be battling with them until the end.

They struggled a bit last year but they seem to have more of a structure this time around.

They obviously beat us a couple of weeks ago and so it was important that we didn’t lose on Sunday.

In the end it was a really good game and the point keeps us top which is where we want to be.

There is a bit of a rivalry developing with Whitley and I think that can only be a good thing for the league.

There will also be that competitive element when there are two sides so close together at the top and I think our players are relishing it.

We walked the league a bit last season so to have that competitiveness there is good. We used to have it with Billingham who we beat 5-2 on Saturday.

That was a very professional performance from us and a good result.

I thought Billingham came to try and frustrate us but we played well and in the end could have won by more.
