WE’VE got a free week this weekend which has come at a good time for us as we have quite a few players out injured at the moment.

We travelled up to Solway with only 10 players on Saturday so to come away with a 7-2 win was a really good result.

RJ Berra and Rich Bentham both got two while Adam Brittle, Ben Simister and Kim Miettinen also scored.

It was an excellent performance from us considering the injuries. We had a couple of lads playing despite knocks as well so we were pleased with the win. Beforehand I would have taken a point so to get a win was great.

I think the result does highlight our spirit. We are a very tight knit squad anyway and we never use injuries as an excuse.

We had a game plan and we executed it perfectly against a full strength Solway side so it was a great win.

With a bit of luck we will have a couple of players back for our next match. Andy Dunn has been out but he should be back. But Max Drakeley has popped his shoulder and Jordan Bannon has a knee injury so they will probably still be missing.

Our coach Dan MacKriel was also absent on Saturday as he continues to recover from having his appendix out but I think he is hopeful of coming down to training on Thursday night.

Injuries are just part and parcel of hockey so I think we will all be pleased to have a week off and get ready for our next match against Sheffield Senators on Sunday, November 1.
