BLACKBURN Rovers owner Anuradha Desai tonight released an official statement again confirming that the club is not for sale.

As revealed on the Lancashire Telegraph website on Saturday evening, Rovers are understood to have attracted interest from Middle East oil giant Qatar Petroleum - a state-owned company with strong links to Qatar's crown prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

But no offer has been made and Venky's, who have insisted since the weekend that they do not wish to sell, have denied reports elsewhere that Qatari representatives had visited India to discuss a possible takeover.

In a statement released on Rovers' official website, Venky's chairman Desai said: "There have been reports that someone from the Royal Family of Qatar was in India to meet us and discuss the possibility of buying the club.

"We would like to clarify that there is absolutely no truth in these reports.

"No-one from Qatar - or anywhere else - visited us.

"We have no intention of selling and are totally committed to the club.

"There is no possibility of us selling the club."
