Tosin Adarabioyo hopes to put in to practice what he learned during his time at West Brom as the Manchester City youngster embarks on a season-long loan with Rovers.

The defender played 29 times for Albion as they reached the Championship play-offs last term and has been brought in by Tony Mowbray as Rovers try and push towards that top six.

Rovers consolidated themselves in the Championship last season, finishing 15th with 60 points after promotion from League One, but have aspirations of challenging for the play-offs this time around.

Adarabioyo is the fifth signing through the door, but the first defender, and while naturally a central defender, can also provide competition at right back where he played much of his football last season.

A 6’5 he brings added height to the backline, but is also composed with the ball at his feet, and is looking to become a first-team regular this season.

“Playing games, whether it’s twice a week or once a week, it’s all you want to do as a footballer, so hopefully I can replicate that this season in the Championship,” said the 21-year-old.

“It was a big learning curve for me at West Brom and a different sort of game from what I’m used to. I felt I adapted quite quickly and really did enjoy the season.

“I learned a lot of things from the gaffer there, Darren Moore, and the rest of the players.

“Having been in the division before, I feel I’m ready to get straight into it again and show everyone exactly what I can do.

“I’m at the stage of my career where I have to be playing every week and show my quality."

Negotiations to bring Adarabioyo to Ewood Park have been long and drawn out, but Rovers always remained confident of landing their man.

Adarabioyo played in both matches against Rovers last season and says they made a lasting impression on him, as have his conversations with Mowbray.

“It’s been over a week now since the talks really began and I’m just pleased that everything’s been sorted out,” he told the club website.

“I remember playing against Rovers last season for West Brom and they were two very difficult fixtures.

“I think the way that the gaffer wants to play, it really appeals to me. When I heard of the interest my mind went back to those two games against Rovers.

“I think that it will definitely be a good partnership. It’s nice for a player when a manager has you down as his first choice."
