Blackburn Rovers have added a goalkeeper to their Under-23s squad with the signing for former Everton man Joe Hilton.
The 19-year-old has signed a two-year deal at Ewood Park and will compete with Andrew Fisher for the number one spot in Damien Johnson’s side.
Hilton was part of the Toffees development squad that won both the Premier League 2 Division 1 and Premier League Cup titles and has been in first-team squads for the Premier League games against Crystal Palace and Manchester City.
He was a free agent after coming to the end of a one-year professional contract at Goodison Park.
The teenager spent time out on loan with Evo-Stik Premier Division side Marine in the second half of last season where he was team-mate of Rovers youngster Sam Barnes.
Hilton started his career at Manchester City as an 11-year-old, representing the Under-18s aged just 15.
Johnson had been looking to add a goalkeeper to his ranks with the club also taking a look at former Leeds man Joshua Rae.
