Tony Mowbray has distanced Rovers from reports they are about to make a move for Burnley goalkeeper Joe Hart.

It was reported the former England stopper was being considered for a loan switch to Ewood Park next season.

Rovers are keen to strengthen their goalkeeping department this summer with Jayson Leutwiler having started the final five matches of the season, with David Raya dropping to the bench.

Canadian Leutwiler is out of contract this summer, while Raya will undergo surgery on a facial injury sustained at West Brom in October before returning to pre-season training in June.

Hart is likely to look for a new home, despite only signing for Burnley in June 2018.

He made 21 appearances for the Clarets after his move from Manchester City, but has fallen out of favour since the 5-1 defeat against Everton on Boxing Day and hasn’t featured since with Tom Heaton returning to the side.

But the  32-year-old’s immediate future doesn’t look to be at Rovers, with Mowbray declaring there has been no discussion over a move for Hart.

The Rovers boss said: “He’s not someone we’ve spoken about so I’m not sure where that has come from, whether it’s agent driven to try and create a story. I’m not sure.

“We haven’t discussed Joe Hart and whether he fits in to our team.

“What I would say is that we won’t sign anyone based on their reputation.”
