Rovers reporter Rich Sharpe picks out three talking points ahead of the visit of Swansea City.

SIXTY POINT TARGET

Avoiding defeat would see Rovers move either to, or beyond, the 60 point target that Tony Mowbray had looked for his side to achieve.

Victory would also be a fifth in their final six games, and erase at least some of those memories from a difficult post-January spell.  A promising start, difficult middle, and strong end wouldn’t be a bad way for Rovers to go in to the summer which is set to be the biggest since Mowbray took charge.

Rovers can finish as high as 12th, which would require a win, and then Preston and Hull to lose to Brentford and Bristol City respectively. The lowest Rovers could finish would be 15th should Brentford better their result.

Rovers are also targeting a fourth consecutive home win, which would, if achieved, come after four successive 1-0 defeats. When Rovers have scored at home, they haven’t failed to win since December 15, and not lost since August 2017. When they have conceded, they haven’t won since New Year’s Day.

Rovers also go in to the match having won on the final day of each of the last five seasons.

GOALKEEPING CALL

Jayson Leutwiler has been preferred to David Raya in goal for Rovers’ last three games.  The Spaniard posted a defiant message on social media, with the tagline “#1” but it’s the Canadian whose had the gloves of late.

He had the best game of his trio of appearances against Norwich, but Mowbray will have to weigh up how ending the season out of the team for four consecutive games could affect Raya’s confidence going in to a summer in which he will undergo surgery on his nose.

Mowbray has also been open in his plans to add to his goalkeeping department this summer, and while likely to, at the very least, start next season as No.1, Raya will undoubtedly face more of a challenge for his position.

Leutwiler is out of contract, though the club do have a 12-month option, and Mowbray may well have used these games to assess what role the Canadian can play moving forward.

WHO GETS A CHANCE, AND WHEN?

Mowbray has stated that midfielder Jacob Davenport could be handed his debut this weekend at the end of an injury-hit season, most likely from the bench.

Harry Chapman got his chance against Norwich, and Mowbray will need to decide whether the winger gets another go here.

Dan Butterworth and John Buckley came off the bench against Bolton, and may well be involved here, while there is also possible sentiment with Craig Conway to consider.

The winger, who turned 34 yesterday, is stuck on 199 Rovers appearances and out of contract in the summer, could he be given one last hurrah?

Regular senior players would need to make way for that to happen, and promises to be an interesting balance for Mowbray to strike.
