Goodison Park will host Rovers’ Premier League Cup tie with Everton later this month.

The tie had already been scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 23, but no venue had been set.

The game has now been confirmed for Everton’s first team ground, with a 7pm kick off. Entry is free for all supporters, with tickets available from Everton’s ticket office.

The winners will travel to Swansea City in the last four, while the other semi-final sees Leeds United face Newcastle United.

Everton usually play their home games at Southport’s Haig Avenue stadium, but the Sandgrounders have a National League North game with Kidderminster 24 hours earlier, which meant that wasn’t an option.

It will be a tough ask for Rovers against a Toffees side who lead the Premier League 2 table and are yet to beat them in their four meetings so far this season.

Damien Johnson’s side have been inactive since their impressive Premier League Cup quarter final win over Stoke on Friday, March 15.

They return to action on Monday with a trip to Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium to face Tottenham (7pm), with the game having been moved from its original venue of Spurs’ new stadium because of their Champions League commitments.

Tyler Magloire and John Buckley will be part of their squad, despite making their first team debuts within the last month, while fresh from signing new deals this week, Joe Rankin-Costello and Charley Doyle will also travel.

Joe Nuttall has also been on the fringe of the first team squad of late, and could be given some game-time against Spurs on Monday as Rovers look to try and secure their status in the top flight, currently sitting three points above the dropzone with three games left.
