Rovers have a date, but no venue or kick-off time, for their Premier League Cup quarter final with Everton.

The Toffees beat Sunderland last week to book their place in the last eight, and set up a meeting with Rovers.

Quarter final ties were supposed to have been played by last week, but a delay to Everton’s game with Sunderland, which they won 2-1, has seen the tie put back to Tuesday, April 23.

The winners will travel to Swansea City in the last four, after their quarter final win over Nottingham Forest, following Monday's draw. The other semi-final sees Leeds United face Newcastle United.

Everton usually play their home games at Southport’s Haig Avenue stadium, but the Sandgrounders have a National League North game with Kidderminster 24 hours earlier, which puts that in doubt.

Wherever the game is played, it will be a tough ask for Rovers against a Toffees side who they are yet to beat in their four meetings so far this season. Everton won both of their Premier League 2 meetings, where they sit top of the table, as well as one of the two Premier League Cup group games, with the other ending in a 1-1 draw.

Rovers Under-23s face three more games in their Premier League 2 season, as they bid to avoid the drop following last season’s promotion.

They also have the small matter of a Lancashire Senior Cup final with Burnley, which is yet to be arranged, with discussions ongoing about a possible date and venue for that, in what promises to be a busy end to the season.

Damien Johnson’s side have been inactive since their impressive Premier League Cup quarter final win over Stoke City on Friday, March 15.

They return to action on Monday with a trip to Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium to face Tottenham (7pm), with the game having been moved from its original venue of Spurs’ new stadium because of their Champions League commitments.

Rovers then host Manchester City at Ewood Park on Monday, April 15, with a game away to Liverpool scheduled for Monday, April 29, though a venue and kick off time is still to be confirmed.

Rovers are currently ninth in the table, three points above the dropzone, with three games remaining.
