Former Rovers striker Marvin Emnes is spending time on trial with Championship rivals Bolton Wanderers.

The Bolton News is reporting the 30-year-old will train with Phil Parkinson’s side in a bid to earn a deal.

Emnes spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Rovers, in two separate spells, scoring four goals in 37 games as the club were relegated to League One.

That summer he left parent club Swansea City, signing a three-year deal with Turkish club Akhisar Belediyespor, though he made just seven league appearances.

Emnes was on the move again in September 2018, joining Vancouver Whitecaps, but left at the end of MLS season.

The attacker will be looking for a way back in to English football where he has spent time with Middlesbrough, working under Tony Mowbray, as well as Swansea and Rovers.
