Rovers defender Tyler Magloire has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The 20-year-old defender has put pen-to-paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal, keeping him at Ewood Park until the summer of 2022.

Magloire’s previous deal was set to expire in the summer but he has been rewarded for his progress at the club, which has seen him train with the first team, with an extension.

The central defender has been namechecked by Tony Mowbray of late, not least when explaining his decision to allow Paul Downing to leave the club on last week.

For Magloire, who has been with the club since the age of nine, the decision to remain at Rovers was an easy one.

He told the club website: "I'm very happy.

"I've been here a long time and I'm just happy that I can continue improving and moving forward.

"I think this is a good place for me to be, so I'm very pleased.

"This club means a lot to me. They've put a lot of time into me and I'm very grateful to everybody here who's done that for me and I just hope that I can pay something back in the future.

"I joined as a nine-year-old and my main aspiration was to play for the first team, so I'm happy that I'm edging closer every day."
