Rovers have opened contract talks with Bradley Dack and are hopeful of reaching a positive conclusion.

Discussions started a number of weeks ago over a new deal for the 25-year-old who only agreed a contract extension last summer.

The 13-goal attacker has made no secret of his happiness at Ewood Park, and earlier this month said in an interview with the Lancashire Telegraph: “I’m committed to the club, I love playing for this club. I’m not wanting to leave.”

Chief executive Steve Waggott has met with Dack’s agent, while boss Tony Mowbray has held discussions with the player whose current deal runs to the summer of 2021.

Dack signed from Gillingham in 2017 and scored 18 goals to help the club to promotion, as well as winning the League One player of the season prize.

Rovers have stressed since the summer, when Dack attracted interest from West Bromwich Albion, the player wasn’t for sale and how key he was to their future plans.

He has thrived in his first year as a Championship player, with 10 league goals and a further three in the cup competitions, and a new contract would be a reward for that form.

Speaking this afternoon, Dack said: "It's nice to be doing well and playing in a team that's doing well.

"I'm really enjoying my football and I'm happy here."

Rovers are currently eighth in the Championship, three points off the top six.
