TONY Mowbray is bracing himself for a selection dilemma when Rovers travel to Brentford next weekend.

The Ewood boss hopes to have Charlie Mulgrew fit while Ryan Nyambe, who was left out of the matchday squad for the 3-0 win over Hull City on Saturday, is also available.

Mulgrew has not featured since the FA Cup draw at Newcastle early this month.

In the Scotland international's absence Jack Rodwell, among the scorers against the Tigers, has slotted seamlessly into the side alongside Darragh Lenihan.

Elliott Bennett played right back against Hull with Nyambe missing out as Mowbray opted to name Derrick Williams as his defensive option on the bench

"It will be harder next week because if Mulgrew is back there is going to be two pretty good footballers not in the 18 but that is football and you shouldn't moan about it," said the Rovers boss.

Mulgrew, 32, is expected to resume full training on Monday.

Mowbray added: "He hasn't trained with the group, he is back on the grass and has been doing his sprinting (on Saturday) which is the last part of his rehab.

"If he has no reaction to sprinting then he will back with the team and training on Monday."

On the decision to omit 21-year-old Nyambe the Rovers boss added: "Nyambe was left out, I have said to the team that these are really tough decisions.

"Nyambe has been awesome for two years for me and yet I have to pull the kid in and tell him he can't make the 18, probably the first time I have ever done that with him and it is not because of his performance level. It is purely to do with the balance of the team. Reed can play right back if need be, Travis can play right back if need be but if Amari'i Bell went down we needed Derrick Williams on the bench to cover left back and that was the only reason he (Nyambe) didn't make the team."
