ROVERS left back Sam Hart has signed for Southend United on loan until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old signed a two year deal with Rovers from Liverpool in August 2017 having been with the Merseysiders since the age of 16.

Hart spent the first part of the campaign on loan at League One outfit Rochdale and made 13 appearances.

The full back, who hasn't played for Rovers since December 2017, has gone to the Essex outfit in search of regular football.

Hart, has made just seven appearances for Rovers, is out of contract in the summer.

Southend are 12th in League One and sit 12 points off the play-offs.

He could make his debut away at Bradford City on Saturday.

Hart will compete for the left back spot with ex-Rovers loanee Stephen Hendrie.
