Rovers Academy prospect Brad Lyons has joined Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on loan.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who last week signed a permanent deal with Rovers, will remain north of the border until the end of the season.
The move sees the Northern Irishman reunited with manager Oran Kearney, who played a major role in Lyons’ development at former club Coleraine.
Lyons signed from Coleraine in August and has been an impressive performer for the Under-23s, also spending time training with the first team.
He scored three goals in 13 appearances for Rovers’ Under-23s, and will look to further his development out on loan.
Lyons said: “I’m delighted to get the loan deal over the line.
“It’s an opportunity to show the gaffer here that he can trust me and to prove to myself that I’m good enough to play at a high level.
“Knowing Oran Kearney was a big factor. Hopefully I can get game time under him and play against some big teams.
“I’ve had a look at the fixtures and I think the first three league games are away to Celtic, home to Hibs and away to Rangers, so as a boy from Northern Ireland, you can’t get much better than that.”
