Neil Harris never felt his Millwall side were never likely to concede against Rovers - but admits a lapse in concentration cost his side.

Adam Armstrong burst in behind the Lions defence on two occasions after coming on, setting up the opening goal for Joe Nuttall before firing home his sixth of the season a minute later.

Both goals came in the final four minutes of a match which won't live long in the memory.

Harris' side had won four on the bounce prior to the visit of Rovers, but struggled for opportunities in a game devoid of chances.

The first half failed to bring a shot on target for either side, and Harris said: “It was a 0-0 draw, wasn’t it? I can’t remember many chances for either side.

“We had some good balls in the box but didn’t really attack them.

“I never felt like we were going to concede a goal.

“It is another learning curve really about where we’re at.

“If you switch off for a minute against good sides you are going to get punished.

“We switched off for one moment in 88 minutes and the ball goes in our net.

“In the last four games we’ve had luck and momentum to win the games. It wasn’t to be for us.”

There was a stroke of luck about the Rovers opener, Armstrong's cross finding its way in off Nuttall via two deflections.

The second saw Armstrong played in by Elliott Bennett before curling beyond Jordan Archer as Rovers put the game to bed within 60 seconds.

And Harris added: “The second goal is disappointing.

”If we don’t concede the second straight away then we can maybe build some momentum.”

There were appeals for offside when Lewis Travis played in Armstrong for the opener, but Harris admitted: “It doesn’t look like it from the footage I’ve seen.

”I’m not bemoaning offside by an inch or two. We don’t defend it well enough – it is two-versus-three and we let a runner go.

”Then we make a 50-50 decision in the box and get it wrong. It’s a poor goal to give away.”

Millwall lost striker Tom Elliott to injury within the opening two minutes, with a dislocated shoulder behind his early substitution.

Harris said: “Losing Tom was a big blow because he has been key for us recently. He has dislocated his shoulder.

“He’ll certainly be missing for a period of time.”
