Rovers reporter Rich Sharpe hands out his player ratings after the 2-0 win at Millwall.

David Raya 7

One smart save from Leonard in the second half and looked sound under the high ball. Took a late knock to the face for his troubles.

Elliott Bennett 7

Captain for the day showed his versatility by starting at right back and finishing up on the left wing. Played an excellent through ball for Armstrong’s second goal.

Darragh Lenihan 9 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Was faultless from the first minute to the last. Took it upon himself to lead the back line and did so to great effect. Made eight clearances and was first to most things in the air. Deserved the clean sheet which came Rovers’ way.

Jack Rodwell 8

A first start in central defence since November and looked assured alongside Lenihan. Showed his qualities in possession with several bits of neat footwork.

Amari’i Bell 6

Really struggled to find a Rovers shirt in the first half, with poor use of the ball. Improved after the break, and made a couple of promising breaks forward.

Corry Evans 5

Part of a midfield two who nullified the Millwall threat in the first half, but couldn’t stamp anything authority on the game before being replaced.

Lewis Travis 8

A driving force from midfield, he had a big hand in both Rovers goals, and was the most assured in possession of anyone on the pitch.

Harrison Reed 7

A little surprised at starting out on the left, rather than the right, but looked more assured in the second half when moved centrally.

Craig Conway 6

Was unhappy when subbed, but really struggled to have any impact going forward, despite getting in to some promising position. Set pieces not up to Mulgrew’s quality.

Bradley Dack 6

Always felt that he could be the man to unlock the door, but struggled to find space in a hotly contested midfield. Not his day.

Joe Nuttall 7

Toiled away in the first half, but showed his goalscoring instincts in the second half to get across his marker to turn in Armstrong’s cross.

Subs

Ryan Nyambe (for Evans, 46) 6

Showed good defensive strength moments after coming on, and one good run in to the box created a chance for Dack.

Danny Graham (for Conway, 64) 6

Few sights of goal after coming on, and embroiled in a real physical tussle with Hutchinson.

Adam Armstrong (for Dack, 74) 8

Came up with the quality the game craved, to set up Nuttall’s opener, before taking his goal with great composure.

Unused subs: Jayson Leutwiler, Joe Rothwell, Dan Butterworth, Ben Brereton
