BEN Brereton admits he has been dreaming about his first Rovers goal and hopes it will come sooner rather than later.

The forward has completed his permanent move to Rovers from Nottingham Forest having spent the first half of the season on loan at Ewood Park.

He has failed to score in 17 appearances for Tony Mowbray's men so far this term but is desperate to get off the mark and hopes once he breaks his duck it can be the catalyst for a prolific spell in East Lancashire.

“I dream about getting my first goal for Blackburn Rovers. It will come and when it does I’ve just got to push on from there and get more and more," said the 19-year-old.

“You’ve just got to have a strong mentality. I know I’m young, but I’ve been through it at Forest and I know that as soon as you get that goal and a couple of good games under your belt, you push on and people start seeing the real you.”

Brereton's permanent deal is for an undisclosed fee that could rise to £7m and the attacker is pleased with how he has settled at Rovers and believes he can make strides under boss Tony Mowbray.

"I’m really delighted to be here permanently," he added. "It’s a great team, a great bunch of lads.

“There’s a great atmosphere at the training ground, all the lads are top class and the gaffer keeps everyone going and I like how he manages the team, so it’s great for me.

“I’m a young lad and I know I’ve got a lot of improvement to make in my game, but the manager has been great for me since I came in.

“He’s shown me that I’ve got to work hard for the team, which is something I’m working hard on in training, to help the lads out. It’s not just about me, it’s about the whole team and getting results.

“I can see improvements to my game already, on the training field and on the pitch. The manager talks to you one-on-one and helps you to get better and make more of an impact on the game when you come on or when you start."

Despite his goal drought, Brereton has been pleased with his form but admits there is room for improvement.

“I’ve been really happy when I have come on," he told Rovers' club website. "In some games I could have done better, but generally I think I have done alright.

"I’ve come on and got a couple of assists and won a penalty - I just need to get that goal now and kick on from there and hopefully get many more for the club."
