After Charlie Mulgrew scored from a corner for the second time this season, Tony Mowbray says it is not an accident.

Just as he did at Bristol City in September, the Rovers captain put his side ahead when an inswinging delivery found the far corner.

Mowbray had re-instated Mulgrew as the corner taker from the right, having seen Harrison Reed take over those duties in recent weeks.

In scoring, Mulgrew now has eight goals this season, and four in his last six matches, as he continues his form from last season which saw him net 14 times.

And Mowbray says no-one should be surprised by that given the potency the Scotland international possesses in his left foot.

The boss said: “It’s not an accident that Charlie Mulgrew can bend the ball in to the net from the corner flag.

“We did work on Charlie going for that.

“He’s been in the middle trying to head the ball in and I’ve made the decision that he’s going to start taking them again from the right side.

“It worked, and I’m delighted for Charlie. It’s another avenue for him to try and continue this goalscoring run.

“He scored 14 last year, up to eight now. His left foot is a pretty amazing tool.”

Bradley Dack doubled Rovers' advantage four minutes later for his 12th goal of the season, a smartly taken finish from the edge of the box.

On Dack, who celebrated his 25th birthday 24 hours earlier, Mowbray added: “When he gets in front of goal you expect him to score, right or left foot.

“Once he chopped back in on his left foot I knew it was in. It’s almost comical how often he does that in training.”
