Norwich City manager Daniel Farke was confident his side were always capable of finding a late winner at Ewood Park.

The German however was disappointed with the treatment of his players, as Emi Buendi and Moritz Leitner were forced off injured in the first half.

The Canaries got their reward, and moved back to the top of the table, as Teemu Pukki scored in the 86th minute.

Farke said: “We were totally on the front foot and dominating the game but then Blackburn tried to break our rhythm. They knew we had several key players and they tried to foul them. I had to substitute Emi Buendia pretty quickly in the game with a dead leg.

“Then I had to substitute Moritz Leitner at half-time after some nasty tackling. They tried to break our rhythm and to annoy us and to make out of this game their game.

“We spoke about this at half-time: just really special teams are able to stay cool in these moments and play further on.

“This was exactly what we did and big compliments to the lads because it was a special win for us. It’s pretty special how my young team was able to handle this situation.

“Some very experienced teams struggle against a team who annoy you and break your rhythm. Then to dig in and work together is outstanding.”

He added: “I trust my lads. I got the feeling in the first-half, Teemu was there with two big chances.

“We scored a goal and why it was disallowed, I don’t know. I thought it was a foul against Marco Stiepermann.

“It was a difficult game. We had to handle so many difficult situations during this game, but I always trust my players and I was sure that we would be able to win this game and create something special.

“It was not only the performance, it was the mentality as well. It’s a massive and special win because it was so difficult for us in the first-half.”

Farke went on to give a fitness update on the two players forced off through injury.

“It was a dead leg for Emi Buendia when the ball was ten metres away and there was a big foul on him,” Farke told Norwich's official website.

“They wanted to put him out of the game.

“With Moritz Leitner, we will have to wait. There was a nasty tackle against his ankle and he was struggling in the first-half.

“Near half-time, he slipped and couldn’t wait. We will have to see how it develops. It’s a bit more tragic for him because he just came back after an injury.”
