REKEEM Harper has been recalled by parent club West Bromwich Albion.
The 17-year-old joined Rovers on August 31 but featured just nine times in all competitions and failed to make the last two matchday squads.
He is one of a number of youngsters recalled by Albion who say that boss Alan Pardew ‘will be assessing the talents of the Club’s Under 23s during January with a view to mapping out the next phase of their development’.
Central midfielder Harper made just one start for Rovers, that being the 1-0 win at Scunthorpe United on September 12, but he struggled to dislodge the experienced trio of Richie Smallwood, Peter Whittingham and Corry Evans in the middle of the park.
And the emergence of Willem Tomlinson on the first-team scene means Harper’s opportunities have been limited further, not helped by his red card in the 3-3 FA Cup draw with Crewe Alexandra on December 3.
He initially signed a season-long loan deal but has seen it cut short following the opening of the January transfer window.
