BLACKBURN Rovers’ Under-18s coach Ian Jones has been appointed as Burnley’s new Head of Academy coaching.
Jones has made the move to Turf Moor to oversee their coaching development following a re-shuffle to the Clarets’ Academy set-up.
It brings an end to Jones’ second spell at Ewood Park having been brought back to the club in 2015.
As part of Rovers’ Academy re-shuffle in 2015 following the appointment of Eric Kinder as Head of Academy, Jones was appointed as assistant to Billy Barr.
Barr himself had moved up from the Under-16s to Under-18s, with Jones his new assistant.
Together, the pair helped Rovers to the FA Youth Cup semi-final in 2015/16, only to be beaten 4-1 over two legs by eventual winners Chelsea.
Jones has previously worked at Morecambe as Head of Coaching and also at Lancaster College as a Lecturer.
Jones also holds the UEFA A Award and AYA, and will be on the Elite Head of Coaching programme (EHOC) for the next three years operated by the Premier League.
