RYAN Nyambe is in line to make his senior Blackburn Rovers debut in tonight’s Capital One Cup first-round tie at home to Shrewsbury Town.

And the teenage right-back has received the backing of the man he is attempting to dislodge from Gary Bowyer’s starting line-up.

Adam Henley, 21, also made his bow for the club when he was a 17-year-old.

And he can see similarities between his younger self and the highly rated Nyambe, who signed a three-year professional deal in the summer.

Henley, who has established himself in the Wales squad, said: “Ryan has been fantastic.

“I see a bit of myself in him when I was his age and when I was coming into the first team.

“It’s a big step up but if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.

“With the problems that we’ve had, a lot of the young players are going to get their opportunity this year – and it’s up to them to take their chance when they’re given it.”
