BLACKBURN are in the top six, winning games and on a run.

There’s no need to be scared of anyone and that’s why I really hope they go to Middlesbrough and go for it.

MORE TOP STORIES:

That means starting with both Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede and maybe bringing Craig Conway in for the suspended Tom Cairney to play on the opposite wing to Ben Marshall.

As I’ve said before in this column there is nothing wrong with going away from home and playing a five-man midfield.

But by going two up top, it would send a message to Middlesbrough that said, ‘we’re not here to sit back and play it safe, we’re coming here to have a go at you’.

And Blackburn’s eight-game unbeaten run means they can play with a bit more freedom.

But don’t get me wrong, a draw would be a good result as Middlesbrough are a good team.

Their manager, Aitor Karanka, is doing well there.

They’ve struggled over the last couple of years and I thought they would do the same this season.

But they’re flying high in third so it will be a tough game.

Blackburn can go there, though, and get a result as they are playing with a lot confidence.

That confidence must only have shot up further after they came from behind to beat Leeds with 10 men on Saturday.

It was a really good result.

And it was great to see that the win earned them a place in the play-offs.

It’s been a long time coming but they deserve it for the way they finished last season and the way they are playing at the moment.

It was great to see Jordan get the winning goals, too.

He’d been left out of the game at Brighton but, after having a rest over the international break, he was back in the team and back doing what he does.

He’s just a great goalscorer.

You’ve got to say well done to the lad, he responded in the right way.

I used to love playing Middlesbrough at their old Ayresome Park ground.

We never seemed to lose there with Blackburn and here’s hoping that continues at the Riverside tomorrow.
