DARWEN got a deserved first away win of the season at New Sirs, in a match they controlled for most of the 90 minutes.

The first goal arrived on 14 minutes when Stuart Telfer's low cross found Ricky Fogarty and he steered the ball into the net.

Daisy Hill levelled the game 12 minutes later, when Bland managed to get in front of Daniel Finch to put a very good diving header home.

Darwen bounced back and, after Fogarty had a shot cleared off the line, he put the rebound back into the box and Telfer put the ball away from a narrow angle.

Five minutes after the break, Fairhurst got behind the Darwen defence, with a clear run on goal. Joe Darwin rushed out, and fouled the defender just outside the area. Referee Pope gave the home side a free kick, but fortunately for Darwin did not take any further action.

Jon Stephenson killed the game off in the 78th minute before Daisy Hill were then reduced to 10 men when Veitch was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

With five minutes left, Darwin produced a marvellous one-handed save to keep the scoreline at 3-1.
