Robbie Fowler scored on his debut for North Queensland but his side went down 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Fowler, who had a spell with Blackburn Rovers last season, came on after 54 minutes with Fury a goal down and brought the match to life.
The striker made no mistake from the penalty spot in the 67th minute after Wolves captain Jody Craddock had brought down Jeremy Brockie in the area.
But Craddock atoned for his error just seven minutes later, getting on the end of a corner to score the winner.
