SEAN Dyche insists he would like to get his transfer business done as soon as possible – but believes only the top teams in the Premier League have the luxury of doing that.

Burnley completed two deals in two days earlier this month with the arrival of Erik Pieters from Stoke City and then the return of Jay Rodriguez who has been snapped up from West Bromwich Albion.

Both deals represent fairly modest outlays for the club with Pieters coming in as competition for Charlie Taylor in a deal worth around £1.5 million and Rodriguez costing £10 million due to a clause in his Baggies contract.

Dyche admits he would have liked more deals to be done but asking prices mean that some will have to wait until the tail end of the transfer window when sides finalise their squads for the season ahead.

“This window’s been the same as what they always are,” the Clarets boss said.

“They’re always hard, everyone wants everything that they can get - clubs, players, agents, it’s just the same old, same old.

“The only ones who often get it done early are the superpowers.

“They put so much into their players that they get things done early.

“I think we’ve got two of ours done early which has been helpful because everyone wants their group together as early as they can.

“We’ve often had to wait until  later in the window because we’re not always in a position to cherry pick players and pay the money that the clubs want.”

All clubs have targets but Dyche is ready to be flexible and knows that different players will become available as the window progresses.

It only needs one player to move on from a club for another to become surplus to requirements and the boss is confident the Clarets will be ready to pounce with twists and turns to come.

“We’ve got to keep our eyes open to what the market offers,” said Dyche.

“Sometimes it’s literally that one situation will pop for someone and then the merry-go-round can start.

“It can be as simple as that. One starts a whole chain of events.”

The deadline for Premier League clubs to complete deals is 5pm on Thursday, August 8.
