Lancashire will welcome the arrival of the Junior Premier League following the success of the South Cheshire Regional Talent Centre.

The new Lancashire Regional Talent centre will be based at the Accrington Academy and will have teams ranging from Under-11s to Under-16s.

The teams will compete in the Northern section of the Junior Premier League for the 2019/20 season while a pre-Academy centre for players from Under-7s to Under-10s will also run.

The centre’s head coach is former Burnley player and current first team goalkeeping coach at Bury, Brian Jensen.

Jenson will be assisted by Michael Worthington, who said of the news: “The long term aim of the centre is to become a total football development centre that covers all aspects of football.

“We intend to create a development centre that works with the FA locally, grassroots clubs and education providers locally.

“To provide opportunities for young coaches and referees to get experience in a safe next level football environment as they progress through their badges or as part of the education study programmes.

“It will also offer opportunities for young physios and sports scientist to help us in the centre and aid their own development.”

Martin Brock, chairman of the Junior Premier League, was pleased to welcome Jensen on board.

“The Junior Premier League is delighted to be working with Brian Jensen on our latest talent centre in the North West,” he added.

“As a retired professional goalkeeper and the first team goalkeeping coach at Bury, the experience and knowledge he can bring to these centres and, more importantly the players, is amazing for them.

“He is also a great role model for the players and coaches and we are lucky to have Brian involved.

“It’s important that players have role models that can inspire and guide them as they strive to progress and Brian, through his involvement with the Lancashire RTC, gives the players his experience and advice and impacts so many young players positively.”

The Lancashire RTC are having a trial on Saturday, June 8. Anyone wishing to attend should contact the centre via email, at lancashirertc@junior-premier.co.uk.
