There is where it starts - the battle for Premier League survival kicks off today and we all need to play our part.

We’ve seven games to save our top flight skin and after what feels like weeks of negativity, we have to find a way to put all that to one side and – use an old BFC marketing campaign slogan - #Believe.

These players gave us so much to shout about last season, so much to celebrate, so much to enjoy.

Despite the season they’ve had this time around, they’re still in credit for me.

Yes, recruitment has been poor. Yes, performances have been nowhere near the mark any of us would see as good enough.

But that’s the reality of football.

As Sean Dyche always says, no-one has a given right to success in this division.

If we’re being honest, that last spot in the relegation zone is either us or Cardiff.

As I’ve said before, I think Southampton will have enough to survive and I don’t think Newcastle United were ever really going to go down with Rafa at the helm.

The clash with Cardiff at Turf Moor is going to be huge but before then we have the visit of Wolves first and a trip to Bournemouth the following week.

A positive result against high-flying Wolves isn’t going to be easy to get but if the crowd at the Turf can get behind the lads from the first whistle to the last then we have a chance.

And what a boost that would be given Cardiff play Chelsea in the Welsh capital and visit Manchester City before their date with destiny here.

We currently sit two points above the Bluebirds with a better goal difference so, in some respects, our destiny is in our own hands. All we need to do now is grasp it with both hands and not let it go.
