PHIL Bardsley hopes it’s ‘home, sweet home’ as the Clarets return to Turf Moor.

The Clarets entertain Leicester City on Saturday in the first of back-to-back home games wrapped around the international break.

Indeed, three of Burnley’s next four fixtures are at Turf Moor – including a mid-April visit from Cardiff City who are currently just two points below the Clarets in 18th place and don’t play this weekend.

Bardsley isn’t thinking that far ahead but is looking to make home advantage count against the mid-table Foxes and recapture the prolific streak that brought Burnley 10 points from a possible 12 at Turf Moor during a flying start to 2019.

“An eight-game unbeaten run in the Premier League is something the top teams do,” said Bardsley, who played a key role in that season-changing burst.

“Now it’s up to us try and get back to that form we were showing in those games and get some points on the board we need to get up that table.

“We know it’s going to be a difficult game. They’ve got some exceptionally good players, but we believe, at home, on any given day we can compete against anybody and Saturday will be no different.

“You can’t be looking past the Leicester game on Saturday. All our focus will be on that and we’re really looking forward to it.

“We had a disappointing week, but we know how things can change really quickly in this game and hopefully we can do that.

“We really want to put on a performance and get the three points we need.”

The Clarets remain in the mix just above the relegation places after losing their last three games – a similar run they halted with a goalless draw at Leicester last November.

But Burnley were not without a chance on Merseyside before being under-mined by a series of uncharacteristic mistakes.

And Bardsley will be helping the defensive unit to put that right and respond in the right way to open up some breathing space again at the foot of the table and potentially move level on points with 14th-placed Crystal Palace – who are in FA Cup action.

“If you go to Anfield they are capable of ripping any team in half. I don’t think they did that to us,” added the Clarets’ right-back.

“We conceded four goals which were scrappy goals and disappointing on our behalf.

“But we dust ourselves down, we’ve focused this week and we understand we have a massive game on Saturday.

“We’ve got a top group of lads here who are honest and will give their all to the cause.

“Each day we try and drive each other and get the best out of each other and this week has been no different.

“It was a difficult weekend last week and we try and bounce back and do things in the right way and train and prepare properly for a massive game against Leicester.

“We’ve looked good and sharp in training and hopefully we can take that into the game.”
