Burnley are hoping they will be able to reap the benefits of their mid-season training break in the sun.

The squad has decamped to Portugal for five-days of warm weather training ahead of their return to action at home to Tottenham Hotspur a week on Saturday.

Dyche believes the training camp in the Algarve comes at an important time for his players.

"Once we went out of the FA Cup there was a window available to us to get all the players together," said Dyche.

"It's very difficult to do that in a standard season because during international breaks, a lot are away with their countries.

"We did something similar last season and it's something we believe is important, so we have literally come to Portugal with everyone, including the injured players and staff.

"Everyone will know we have had a tough time this season with injuries, so we want to make sure they're all aware they are still an important part of what we are, and realise the impact they can still have on the group as a whole."

Last year, a similar trip resulted in a six-game spell of one draw and five straight wins that cemented the Clarets' seventh place finish in the Premier League.

This year, the break coincides with a Premier League record seven-match unbeaten run to boost hopes of climbing away from danger.

Dyche added: "The trip is something we'd do anyway, but I think at the end of a good run of results it locks in all the good work the players have done.

"It is a working break, with a balance of some down time to allow them the odd game of golf, or other recreational activities.

"But equally they will work hard and we think we've found that nice balance."
