BURNLEY skipper Tom Heaton is keen to keep totting up the points to ensure the Clarets beat the drop this season.

Heaton has yet to taste defeat since returning to the side for the game with West Ham in late December, with Burnley stringing together a six game unbeaten run in that time.

The Clarets have drawn their last three matches and despite their upturn in form remain just two points clear of 17th placed Cardiff City.

Sean Dyche's side travel to a Brighton side who are three points further up the Premier League table and a win would be a shot in the arm to Burnley's survival bid.

Heaton, who has not lost in the league since August 19, 2017 - a run of eight matches - having spent an extended time on the sidelines with a shoulder injury, is wary of the threat posed by Chris Hughton's side but is focussed on maintaining the Clarets form.

Ashley Barnes' stoppage time penalty earned a point against Southampton last weekend and Heaton wants to build on the late show.

"It keeps the momentum going," said the Turf skipper. "We are on a good run at the minute and to take that point was an important one so we will take that onto Brighton.

It is another tough game but one we are going to embrace.

"At the minute we are trying to focus on ourselves and keep doing what we are doing. There is a long way to go but it is important we keep accruing the points and we will be looking to do that again at Brighton."
