We rate the players after Burnley's 1-1 draw with Southampton

Tom Heaton 8

Made an excellent save to deny former teammate Ings in the opening few minutes and did well to claw out a Ward-Prowse header after the break

Charlie Taylor 7

Stuck to his task well defensively and got forward to good effect. Needs to deliver more balls into the box

Ben Mee 7

For the most part was strong and steady at the heart of the Burnley defence. Looked to move the ball forward where possible

James Tarkowski 7

Ings got away from him for early chance but the Clarets man recovered and put in a resolute defensive display

Phil Bardsley 8

Cleared off the line at the start of the second half and was the pick of the Burnley back four. Got forward well

Jeff Hendrick 6

Worked hard on the right hand side but, together with the two midfielders inside him, it didn’t quite click in the attacking third

Jack Cork 6

Up against one of his former clubs and will feel he could have challenged Redmond in the lead up to goal. Battled well.

Ashley Westwood 6

Often understated in the Burnley midfield but he struggled to impose himself on proceedings as much as he has done recently

Dwight McNeil 8

Bright spark on the left, particularly in the first half. Constantly looking to get the ball in the box and worked hard in tandem with Taylor

Ashley Barnes 8

Denied a blatant penalty in the first half before dispatching one late on. Could have had a hat-trick having been denied by McCarthy and the bar

Chris Wood 6

Missed a big chance in the first half when he shot over after good initial work. Wasn’t as threatening in the box as his strike partner.
