BEN Mee believes Burnley are turning a corner after collecting a battling point at Watford.

The Clarets had the better of the chances at Vicarage Road and saw a Chris Wood effort ruled out for offside in stoppage time when replays showed the frontman was on.

But it is a fifth game without defeat for Sean Dyche's side and Mee is pleased with the reaction to Boxing Day's 5-1 humbling by Everton.

Since then the Clarets have beaten West Ham, Huddersfield and Fulham in the league and set up an FA Cup fourth rounds trip to Manchester City while the point at Watford maintained the three point gap to the bottom three.

“It was nice to be solid. It’s a difficult place to come and we kept a good clean sheet and defended really well,” Mee said of the Watford trip.

“The hard work is there and the desire to go and play for this club and play for each other and the fans is always there and will always be there.

“It’s showing, all the hard work we are putting in, and it’s good to see.

“That (goal) gets given on-side and we’re flying. But it’s a pleasing point and a clean sheet and we move forward to next weekend against City in the cup and then we have a big game against United.”

The decision not to award Wood's goal will rankle but Mee felt the performance showed that Burnley are heading in the right direction.

“Woody was onside when Dwight (McNeil) shot. Sometimes you get them, sometimes you don’t. But we were pleased with the performance,” Mee said, speaking to the club's official website.

“The front two were fantastic. We created chances and maybe we could have been a bit more clinical, you could argue, but the boys up top did really well.

“I think we are moving really well in the right direction, keeping picking up points and keeping moving up the table.

“It’s positive. We are five unbeaten now and we want to carry that on.

“We’ve got some big games coming up and there’s a lot of confidence around the place.

“There’s a good feeling and it’s been really good last couple of weeks.”
