BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche says he would relish an FA Cup run but admits the Premier League remains the priority.

The Clarets pulled clear of the relegation zone with a 2-1 midweek win at Huddersfield Town and face fellow strugglers Fulham when the top flight action returns next weekend.

Before that home game with Claudio Ranieri's side, Dyche's men face League One promotion chasers Barnsley in the FA Cup third round at Turf Moor tomorrow (12.30pm).

The Clarets have not had much success in the cup competitions under Dyche, their best performance in the FA Cup was reaching the fifth round in 2017 when they were humbled by then non-league Lincoln City.

Dyche's first cup game as Burnley boss was a 1-0 defeat to the Tykes 2013.

The Clarets chief would like to rectify that but his main aim is keeping the Clarets in the Premier League.

He said: "Every year it’s not like we haven’t been trying to get a cup run or do well, sometimes it works, sometimes it hasn’t, we’ve had a few anomalies along the way.

“Teams have performed, then we haven’t, but it’s a one off, you’ve got to perform on the day.

“The main thing is picking a team I know are capable and then it’s down to them to deliver.

“But you can’t get away from it, the Premier League is the priority, it still was at the beginning of the season with the Europa League."
