OUR Clarets jury discuss the big issues at Turf Moor. This week we ask whether they're surprised at Ashley Barnes' fine form for Burnley this season.

MATT RIGGS

Yes, I have to admit, I have been very surprised with his form this season. Coming off the bench and barging into defenders, invariably picking up a yellow card was starting to look like all he had to his game.

Since he's been starting, he's looked much more rounded and started adding goals to his game.

I read a stat after the Stoke game which said Ashley Barnes has scored six goals in his last eight Premier League games, as many as his previous 44 combined. That tells you how well he's done.

ANDREW GREENWOOD

I have a bit. He’s not only been the big handful up front we aim at but he’s also scored some cracking goals.

The West Ham one stands out for me. He’s been excellent this season, linking up well with whoever has played alongside him.

You have to feel for Sam Vokes as he would have had more game time had Ashley not been on form. He epitomises the team as a whole and long may it continue.

AMER STANSFIELD-MUSHTAQ

What we have seen this season is a fully fit Ashley Barnes for most of the campaign for the first time since he joined the Clarets and what that has shown us fans is that an injury free Barnes has proven that he is a Premier League striker that causes havoc amongst defenders in this division.

He has surprised me with his consistency recently, both in performances and goal scoring.

If this would have been the case since the start of the season, he may have had a shout for the World Cup.
