WE'RE beginning to make life on the road look a little easy this season aren’t we?

An opening day win at Champions Chelsea and a point at last season’s runners Spurs mean we’ve almost bettered our away record for the whole of last season. Two games in.

So why are people still trying to find fault and be negative?

I think it is one of the most common traits amongst Burnley fans – we can never be happy with our lot!

After the signing of Chris Wood, some fans on social media were decidedly underwhelmed that we’d signed him.

Wood, as most of you will know, was the top goalscorer in the Championship last season with a very impressive 29 league goals.

Granted, his substitute appearance against Blackburn Rovers last week saw him waste a couple of golden opportunities but it’s difficult being thrown into a big local derby for your debut and he looked a little over-eager to get off to a good start.

Those same keyboard warriors were decidedly quieter on Sunday after he’d rifled home the injury-time equaliser at Wembley I have to say.

As the transfer window gets ready to slam shut night, I can already hear a number of fans warming up their typing fingers ready for a Twitter outrage that we haven’t been able to add anyone else to the squad.

I am sure Sean Dyche would love to just click his fingers and have any number of transfer targets appear as if by magic but that’s not how the footballing world works.

Everything these days goes right to the wire and I suspect tonight will be no different.

But please, if we do end up missing out on that defender we all crave, that speedy winger we all want to see dashing down the flank, let’s not get too worked up about it.

People will say I am trying to play down expectation – something that is always levelled at Dyche when he dares to mention how difficult the market is – but I’m really not.

There’s nothing I’d love to see more than a steady stream of new signings posing awkwardly with a scarf or a shirt but I’m just being realistic.

We’ve made a solid enough start to the season so let’s try and be positive and enjoy this crazy ride we call the Premier League.
