DARRAN Kempson looks set to join the Accrington exodus after rejecting a new deal at the club.

Stanley have already lost Bobby Grant to Scunthorpe and expect that strike partner Michael Symes will follow him out of the door rather than sign a new deal with the club.

Former Preston North End trainee Kempson was a regular in the centre of defence for Stanley during the 2009/10 campaign but has turned down a new contract after receiving better offers elsewhere.

A number of League Two and Blue Square Premier clubs are understood to be interested in his services.

“He has rejected a deal,” said Stanley assistant manager Jimmy Bell.

“He has been offered more money by another club.

“We can’t afford to offer him any more than we have done, so it looks he will be moving on.”

Kempson, who joined Stanley from Wrexham last summer and expects to make a decision on his future in the next seven days, said: “I’ve had a good year at the club and enjoyed being there, so I actually wanted to stay.

“But I took a 50 per cent pay cut to play in the league last year and I’m 25 now, I’m not 19 any more.

“I’ve got to look after number one, and it’s not just about money.

“I won’t be accepting the deal they have offered me and I’ve been told there won’t be another one on the table.”

Dean Winnard has agreed to sign a two-year deal, but Leam Richardson is expected to look at his options away from the Reds before deciding whether to accept the pay-as-you-play terms on offer from the Reds.
