Stanley have announced that Piero Mingoia  has left the club via mutual consent.

Mingoia returned to Stanley last summer on a two-year deal but leaves just 12 months in to his second spell.

The 27-year-old finished last season on loan with Morecambe having featured just four times in League One for the Reds.

Mingoia first joined the club on loan from Watford in September 2012, with the 27-year-old then signing a one-year contract with Stanley in August 2013.

The Enfield-born midfielder would go on to spend three seasons at the Wham Stadium, before joining Cambridge United in June 2016.

Two years later he was back at the club but struggled to have the same impact given the form on the flanks for Jordan Clark and Sean McConville, both who are under contract for at least next season.

In all, Mingoia made 155 appearances for Stanley across his three spells, ending with 15 goals and 13 assists.

On his departure, manager John Coleman said: “We are sorry to see Piero go.

“He has always been a model professional but his chances have been limited with the form of Sean McConville and Jordan Clark.

“We wish him all the best for the future.”

Mingoia will now assess his options before deciding his next  move, admitting a desire for more regular first-team action was key to the decision.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to the fans and everybody at the club.

“Unfortunately, last season didn’t work out for me and I’ve now had to make the best decision for me which was to leave the club in search of regular playing time.

“Life decisions also come into it, but the key reason for my departure is my desire to play regular football.

“It has all ended calmly, and it is a decision that I have come to completely by myself.”

Stanley returned to pre-seaon training on Tuesday, with new signing Joe Pritchard involved for the first time.

They start their pre-season fixture list at Bala Town on Monday, July 8 before hosting French giants Marseille at the AJ Bell Stadium, Salford, on Thursday, July 11 (6pm).
