Stanley boss John Coleman is looking to work with a squad of 20 next season.

The Reds have 13 senior players under contract for the 2018/19 campaign after announcing their retained list earlier this month.

That saw left back Will Wood, midfielder Liam Nolan and winger Danny Williams released with their deals at an end.

Goalkeeper Jonny Maxed is weighing up a contact offer from the Reds, while the club are hopeful of tying Mark Hughes down to an extended deal.

However, defender Ben Richards-Everton has opted for pastures news. He rejected Stanley’s offer to join League Two side Bradford City on a two-year deal.

Stanley’s numbers have been boosted though by the return of winger Piero Mingoia who finished the season on loan with League Two side Morecambe.

Coleman knows his squad will require an overhaul having finished last season with five loan players who have now returned to their parent clubs.

“I have fielded quite a few calls while I have been on holiday as you have to keep in the loop,” Coleman said.

“I have a couple of irons in the fire and am exploring all options.

“I am looking at every position and I think things will start moving in June.

“I have got to get our loans and permanent deals right so it can’t be rushed.”

Richards-Everton joined Stanley in 2017 from Dunfermline and played more than 50 times across the last two seasons.

The 27-year-old had been offered fresh terms by Stanley, but opted to join the Bantams, a decision that Coleman understands given the prospect of more regular game-time.

The boss told the club website: “I understand Ben’s reasons for wanting to move on, he didn’t get a lot of first team football last season and we wish him well at Bradford.”

Stanley return to pre-season training at the end of June and have organised two friendlies.

Coleman’s side will travel to Bala Town on Saturday, July 20.

The fixture was arranged as part of the deal which brought striker Andy Mangan to Stanley last August. Mangan has since moved on to Fleetwood Town where he is working as part of their first team backroom staff.

The following week, on Saturday, July 27 (3pm), Stanley face a trip to the Globe Arena to face neighbours Morecambe.
