ACCRINGTON Stanley's match against Blackpool at the Wham Stadium is at risk of being postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

There will be a pitch inspection taking place in Accrington this morning as everyone awaits the verdict of the referee.

Heavy snow and freezing temperatures have put the game in more doubt as the Wham Stadium is without under soil heating.

The club have been appealing for volunteers since the snow began to fall on Tuesday.

John Coleman said he would like the game to go ahead, but wants it to be played in the right conditions.

"You always want the games to be played, but you’ve got to be mindful that it’s played in the right conditions," stated the Stanley manager.

"I’ve suffered in the past of bending over backwards to get games on and then lost the game because of the pitch. We won’t go down that road again."

There has already been a match abandoned at the Wham Stadium this season as the Sunderland game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
