JAMES Tarkowski is looking forward to seeing Nahki Wells make his Burnley debut after being impressed with the striker in training.

Wells is yet to make his senior bow for the Clarets after his £5million move from Huddersfield on deadline day as he continues to recover from surgery to remove a pin from his foot in the summer.

But the 27-year-old was on the bench for the first time on Monday night when the Clarets beat Newcastle 1-0 and he could be in the squad again for Saturday's trip to Southampton.

Tarkowski has come up against Wells previously and he believes he will add to the options available to Sean Dyche when he does make it on to the pitch.

"He's looked good in training, very sharp," he said. "I've played against him a couple of times and he's very lively, very tidy on the ball and I think he's a different option.

"Big Chris Wood is out at the moment, who has been brilliant, Barnesy (Ashley Barnes) will battle and fight for everything, Vokesy (Sam Vokes) is a big target man and nice on the ball, so Nahki will bring a nice change of the options being short, sharp and cause different problems for the opposition."
