So, Rovers have finally ended months of speculation by re-capturing local boy David Dunn.

As with all transfers in football, the move has divided the opinion of the fans, but I feel that I can safely speak for the majority of the Ewood faithful in saying that I am delighted to have him back!

Despite the option of staying at the world famous St Andrews, Birmingham, or a date with destiny with the Samba-style entertainers at the Reebok, the pull of Ewood Park was eventually just too strong, although I suspect this may well have been the case even if the suitors had been Chelsea!

David is clearly thrilled about his return to his hometown club, an aspect sadly lacking in most of today's money driven transfers, and there is a genuine buzz amongst the fans about an old favourite, and one of their own no less, coming back home.

Dunny's recent injury record will invariably be referred to but I believe the Club have taken a well calculated risk, and if he manages to stay injury free, and recapture the form which helped Rovers return to the Premiership, and win the Worthington Cup, then the transfer fee will be seen as a bargain.

At the time of writing it also appears that Lucas Neill will be putting pen to paper on a lucrative contract to play for relegation strugglers West Ham.

Despite a serious offer from Liverpool, and Neill stating he wishes to leave Ewood Park for football reasons, the motivation for leaving does appear to be financial, which is disappointing.

The incoming and outgoing transfers of Dunn and Neill to me shows two different faces of modern football, a player who plays for their heart, and players who play for their wallet.

Sadly one of these is a dying breed, but I know which one the fans would rather have.
